Work In
Band of Brothers, the story of Easy Company in WWII, Steven Ambrose
tells of how the men of Easy Company had to regularly run to the top of
a very large hill next to their training facilities. Although they hated
it at the time, they later realized the experience provided them
endurance, confidence, and a sense of camaraderie. All these traits
contributed to them being one of the best units in the American armed
forces. Physical
activity and better nutrition can have a dramatic impact on individual
and group dynamics. It can boost self-confidence, morale, productivity
and a veritable endless list of benefits beyond better health. Like Easy
Company we face a deadly enemy and like Easy Company our teams can
establish an esprit de corps that will be of great value to us all. Individual
commitment to a group effort -- that is what makes a team work, a
company work, a society work, a civilization work. (Vince
Lombardi)
